The Joe Sorbara Sextet

The Joe Sorbara Sextet gathers to explore extended-form original music in the Black American Creative Music tradition. The ensemble features Ted Crosby on tenor saxophone and clarinet, Tania Gill on piano, Rebecca Hennessy on trumpet, Michael Herring on bass, and Aline Homzy on violin, with composer/ band-leader Joe Sorbara on drums.

Sorbara’s music for the sextet draws inspiration from the many composer/performers they’ve encountered over a lifetime in the music whose work both embodies the tradition and shines light on new (im)possibilities.
