Called “among the most compelling Detroit jazz musicians of their generation” (Jazz From Detroit, University of Michigan Press), Balance’s 2022 album Conjure was hailed as “personal, intimate, and expansive all at the same time” (Hour Detroit Magazine.) They’ve presented major projects at venues such as the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Public Library, the Toledo Museum of Art, and the University of Michigan. Individually, they’ve performed with a wide variety of luminaries, including Marcus Belgrave, Jimmy Cobb, Karriem Riggins, Mulgrew Miller, Robert Hurst, Talib Kweli, and Tyshawn Sorey, and have performed around the world at venues such as Birdland, The Kennedy Center, The Stone, The Yokohama Jazz Promenade, and The Detroit Jazz Festival.
