Drowse
Drowse is the self-recording and songwriting project of Pacific Northwest-based multidisciplinary artist, Kyle Bates. The project’s prismatic sound reflects slowcore, ambient, folk, experimental electronic, noise-pop, black metal and more through Bates’ distinct song-worlds. Drowse’s most recent release is Wane Into It, out now on @theflenser
Your Winters Are Like Summers Here is the solo music project of Hamilton-based musician and academic Mike Baker.
The project moves across genres including ambient, experimental, shoegaze, post-rock, drone and doom. Compositional elements emerge from structured improvisations as layers of sound build to a point of saturation and occasionally collapse. Each set is tailored to some degree to the particular tone and atmosphere of the venue and other acts on the bill, balancing the languid with the explosive in the vein of influences ranging from Codeine to Earth, Stars of the Lid to Sleep.
This Quiet Army
thisquietarmy is an experimental guitar-based project from Montreal’s Eric Quach. Revolving around improvised drone music, he takes his sonic experimentations further by adding textural and structural elements of post-punk/shoegaze, krautrock/spacerock & black/doom metal to them. The results can be described as dark, melodic, expansive & engaging dreamscapes.
SXXN
SXXN is the downtempo dark ambient project of London, ON’s Alex Raj Ven. Disparate contemporary electronic sub-genres coalesce into poignant, exacting and emotional worlds of sound.
