Zoe Dougherty’s “Eve” is a confrontational depiction of women taking up space within a landscape, actively consuming luxuries, ornamented in personalized accessories, and asserting their power with their strong gaze. The women featured in the paintings control the space around them, capturing the attention of whomever sees them while despising the notion that they are being watched.
